The metaABM project is an Open Source (BSD) ABM meta-model and toolset providing:
- Model representation using a neutral, natural and standards-based representation supported through the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF).

Modelling environment with tight integration within the Eclipse IDE toolset and tools for experienced programmers and modelers.

metaABM defines and supports a high-level architecture for designing, executing and sytematically studying ABM models. metaABM started life as a component of the Repast Simphony system, "score", but its scope is beyond a single ABM tool. metaABM is not intended as an ABM engine or runtime environment, but as an approach that can leverage those environments in limitless ways. Beyond that, metaABM seeks to provide a common hub that enables developers of ABM tools to avoid duplication of effort and focus on the value that they can add to the overall software ecosystem. The contributors are committed to an open, developer-driven approach and welcome equal participation from other individuals, projects and organizations.

Extraordinary Tools for Extraordinary ScienceMetascape is dedicated to producing great Agent-Based Modeling (ABM) tools and offering focused consulting, support, training, mentoring and specialized services for those tools. We are especially interested in open approaches to modeling that span implementations, methodologies, and disciplines. We can only do that through meaningful collaboration and strong partnerships.Metascape, LLC is a relatively new firm, but one that is built on long experience and strong reputations within the agent-based modeling (ABM) community. We have been frustrated by the difficulty of developing tools within organizations in which ABMs and software development have been largely a secondary concern. In fact, most of the great tools available have been created by a few individuals who drove development in spite of consistent institutional support and resources, not because of them. And yet as ABM has now become recognized as a truly powerful and revolutionary technique in science and business, the need for such tools could not be greater. Our mission is simply to provide a home for great software developers and scientists and to give them the freedom to create these "Extraordinary Tools for Extraordinary Science". To make that happen we offer support, training and focused consulting resources for hire, and build for the long-term through research grants and contracts. As part of that research mission, and because it is the best and right way to do things, Metascape is strongly committed to both Open Source software and an Open Development process. |
